Power Forward Initiative

Recognizing the urgent need for an automated, power-aware design infrastructure, semiconductor industry leaders are collaborating through the Power Forward Initiative (PFI) to drive advanced low-power design. PFI members have participated in refinement of the Common Power Format (CPF) to enable its contribution to Si2 and its subsequent ratification as an Si2 standard in March 2007. The CPF specification language captures power-specific design intent, such as multi-supply voltage and power shutoff, holistically in a single file. Configurable ARC cores and subsystems will be compliant with the CPF standard, thereby enabling the seamless transfer of power-specific design intents from the ARChitect Configurator to CPF-enabled EDA and other SoC design tools.
